Directors-

Adriana Coletta, Primary Investigator
Dr. Hollie Raynor

The purpose of this field experiment was to assess the influence of isocaloric and isocarbohydrate carbohydrate and carbohydrate-protein supplements as compared to a placebo on endurance running performance during a time trial run.
  • Recruited participants via flyers around the UT campus, community, and local running club website.
  • Screened participants to determine initial eligibility for participation.
  • Conducted body composition measurements (BOD POD) and VO2max tests (max tests conducted with exercise physiologist supervision).
  • Managed one undergraduate student who assisted with data collection and entry.
  • Collected, entered, and managed data.
  • Developed dietary prescriptions using the quantified food servings from the diabetic exchange system.
  • Analyzed dietary data with NDSR(Nutrition Data System for Research)
  • Concocted supplements used during all trials.
  • Scheduled and managed participants.
  • Entered, analyzed, and interpreted data with SPSS.
