The purpose of this field experiment was to assess the influence of isocaloric and isocarbohydrate carbohydrate and carbohydrate-protein supplements as compared to a placebo on endurance running performance during a time trial run.
- Recruited participants via flyers around the UT campus, community, and local running club website.
- Screened participants to determine initial eligibility for participation.
- Conducted body composition measurements (BOD POD) and VO2max tests (max tests conducted with exercise physiologist supervision).
- Managed one undergraduate student who assisted with data collection and entry.
- Collected, entered, and managed data.
- Developed dietary prescriptions using the quantified food servings from the diabetic exchange system.
- Analyzed dietary data with NDSR(Nutrition Data System for Research)
- Concocted supplements used during all trials.
- Scheduled and managed participants.
- Entered, analyzed, and interpreted data with SPSS.
